Context

The higher education community faces significant challenges related to trauma, such as high suicide rates among young people, forced displacements, the COVID-19 pandemic, gender and sexual violence, and the Ukraine war. These circumstances need culturally sensitive, community-based, and digitally relevant trauma support. The HEARTS project addresses these needs by:

  • Bringing together interdisciplinary experts in well-being and health promotion.
  • Studying trauma support needs from psychological, medical, and sociological perspectives.
  • Proposing culturally sensitive and community-based health promotion actions.
  • Aligning with the IUHPE Core Competencies and Professional Standards for Health Promotion and the Okanagan Charter.
